I have a Disco 2 and I use an old Mil-Surp steel mess kit. It works great, I tuck it in on top and it never over-cooks. If I ever have a reason to remove my Exhaust Manifold I plan to weld some brackets on to attach the Mess Kit there.
Used to do this in the service with our MREs, slapped them on the Turbo Charger and then used the rare and hard to find MRE heaters to warm your hands or put in your boots to warm them before putting them on.
Yall need to look up the Hot Dogger, they’re a metal clamp shutting tray/pan and strap arrangement made to go on the exhaust pipe/muffler in snowmobiles. Works good! Should be easily adapted to truck engine tops.
